Classes and subjects

• Qur’anic recitation

  The correct pronunciation of the Arabic text — from the basic level, learning each letter and its sounds, to the advanced levels, pronouncing each letter from its correct articulation point with all the additional rules.

• Surahs and duas

  This subject leans heavily on memorisation: the essential chapters learnt off by heart to recite in daily prayers, and the essential duas needed in everyday life, with their meanings and sources. We also learn the 99 glorious names of Allah, which are needed and beneficial in supplication.

• Islamic studies

  The basic essential rules of jurisprudence needed to carry out all the practical forms of worship and actions in Islam, as well as learning the lawful and unlawful acts. This subject also covers Islamic manners and character.

• Arabic language

  The basic Arabic meanings needed to understand better — for example numbers, days and months in Arabic, and the meanings of chapters — so that students understand what they are saying. We also teach Arabic writing in the form of calligraphy.

• Recap and speech practice

  As a means of comprehension, students summarise and explain previous lessons in a self-prepared speech. This helps us assess how much they have understood from the lessons, and builds their confidence to pass the knowledge on for the benefit of others and the community. We also have question time, where students are free to ask about anything they need clarification or guidance on.

• Homework

  Set after every lesson, with a week to complete it and a minimum of thirty minutes a day. A parent signs it, and it is shown to the teacher at the start of the next lesson.

• Teen classes

  For older students who have outgrown the children’s classes.
