Questions parents ask

Every Monday and Wednesday, 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Officially five years old. We feel the earlier the better, provided the child can follow the rules. There are exceptions — if a younger child can study without difficulty and without disturbing others, we may consider a trial.

We currently have one location, at Rose Lane Community Centre in Markesgate, Dagenham. We are looking to expand into other areas. If you think a new location would benefit your area, tell our team and we will look into it.

Children’s Arabic and Islamic classes for ages 5 to 15.

We are planning classes for teens and adults — register your interest and we will let you know when they start. We are also interested in running tuition classes and others besides. If there is a class you want, or one you could teach, please contact us.

Qur’anic text reading; memorisation of essential surahs and duas with their meanings and sources; Islamic studies, covering the practical aspects and rulings of the religion; basic Arabic speaking and writing, including calligraphy; and question-and-answer plus speech practice, where a child summarises what they have learnt and presents it.

£50 per child per month, plus a one-off £40 introductory pack per child covering all books, stationery and a bag needed for the whole year.

We also look at a family’s financial situation and may be able to help those who are struggling — our goal is to provide the service to the people who need it, so please do speak to us.

Islamic class books are based on age, so they may need renewing each year.

We prefer a standing order as it saves time, but we also accept card and cash.

Six classes — three for boys and three for girls. We currently have four male staff and six female staff.

We keep numbers low so more time can be spent on each class member, so we do not exceed ten students per class.

All our staff go through an intensive selection process, are experienced, and are fully DBS checked, so your child is safe. Senior Team Leaders also carry out continual observations of the actual lessons.

We take this extremely seriously and encourage feedback from all parents and students.

Students are given homework after every lesson and must spend a minimum of thirty minutes a day on it. They have a week to complete it.

Parents then sign the homework, and it must be shown to the teacher at the beginning of every lesson.
